STARTING THE PROCESS
We start the process by getting a feel for your story, and if you already have ideas for the illustrations you want, we definitely want to hear about them! We will also ask you a lot of questions - this helps us to accurately create the vision that is locked up in your mind.

THUMBNAIL SKETCHES
The second set of sketches we send you are still rough, but we are finalising any changes we have talked about with you. We discuss a lot of things, i.e. even down to a characters facial structure, so that we can continue to capture your vision. You want your character to have a larger nose? You want the pommel on a sword to be more intricate? You want the leaves in the tree to be a brighter green? This is where you tell us!
THE DETAILS
Thumbnail sketches are then drawn and are sent to you for first stage approval. Any modifications to the sketches are talked about at this point, and we also discuss colour palettes.
THE ADJUSTMENTS
Then the final round of changes are sent to you for approval. The sketches are now starting to look like real illustrations. We can still do minor changes from here (especially if we are working digitally).
Now is when you get to sit back and relax while we turn the sketches into full blown illustrations. We are excited to see the drawings coming to life, and can't wait to share them with you!
FINAL PHASE
Commissioning Internal Illustrations or Cartography for your book can be a daunting quest!
We are more then happy to guide you through each step, keeping you informed and updated, as you are part of our team! The most important thing for us, is that your vision eventuates with spectacular style. Sometimes things fit into place and we go from first Thumbnail sketch to final stage, other times it takes some elbow grease and an extra stage if needed!
The above is simply a basic template from which to work from, it is by no means set in stone
We work in a variety of mediums, from traditional pencil, pen, charcoal, and paint, to digital hand-drawn images; which is a fantastic medium to use as it easily allows for a variety of styles and streamlines the process.
This essentially means we use every bit of our skill pallet, what ever it takes and whatever is needed to get the job done.
